If you are looking for an NC hidden gem, go check out Southern Distilling Company hidden away in Statesville. From the friendly greeting to the behind the scenes tour we were treated like old friends. Not only was our tour guide uber informative - a wonderful social studies teacher moonlighting in the moonshine - but the immersive experience continued through the tasting and into the bar. My husband is a bourbon drinker, I am not but the wonderful Laurel mixed me a beautiful off menu drink that brought me over to the dark liquor side. Whether you want to learn more about the hidden history of NC or just are looking for a cozy place to clink glasses with friends, Southern Distilling Company is the place to be.

Seriously this place was breathtaking how awesome it was!! So dam classy and some of the absolute best rye whiskey!! The family close knit feel they welcome you with is what really really hit home for me. They let you try everything before you buy it or even if you just wanna try them!! I loved the farm vibe it goes so darn well with their brand!! Southern Distillery!! Super southern super friendly the front and back staff both welcoming you like your their family! Great tastes great whiskey and a true rustic upper class feel all around you guys get my 5 stars and I truly truly hope to see you all grow. From OHIO!! All the bests!! A buddy and I had passed by Southern Distilling for a number of years always saying we need to stop and check it out. We finally did and what an awesome place. A great space for the tasting room, inclusive of a small bar and comfortable seating available to enjoy your beverage/s. They also feature a retail area with all of their product along with various other branded items, shirts, glassware etc. All very tastefully done. We decided to take a tour of the distillery and so glad we did. You go behind the seens to see how the product is produced and the great lengths they go for quality. It lasted ~45 minutes with the end a sampling of 6 of their products, tasty! Our guide took his time to both present the distillery as well as answer your questions. all for $15. We then went to the bar to had a drink before leaving and the bartender were awesome, very friendly, knowledgeable and fun. A great time, and would highly recommend!

Great tour experience for just $15! Even if you are not into whiskey the tour is interesting and well worth it - once the tour is over you have the opportunity to sample Southern’s entire line up of locally made whiskeys. You can also purchase cocktails separate from the tour and hangout at their bar.

Awesome, informative tour! The best part was learning how to taste the bourbon. The products are top quality also. I would suggest arriving early to have a cocktail as they are delicious.
